I am a lover of all things dainty darling! Dainty rings, delicate bracelets, simple stylish pieces. But in these trying times, there is something quite alluring about the “trash trend” of wearing chunky gold. To wear chunky gold you have to be empowered, bolshey and exude “I don’t give a shit” overt confidence. When Edina Monsoon from 90s sitcom ‘Ab Fab’ spluttered “Lacroix sweetie Lacroix” we all wanted some of her shameless joie de vivre. She was the antithesis of control and was practically perfect at letting go.
I’m caught between a rock and a hard place. On one hand I could end up looking like a budget Cardi B or on the other, teamed with simple clean lines, may end up looking bang-on, classic with a twist. I will always go with an over-sized white shirt and a chunky necklace (Zara is amazing for a quick fix). I also love to simplify with a Harley Davidson t-shirt or a simple oversized denim jacket, strutting in kitten heels or ankle boots.
The key to keeping it classy it to wear just 1, no more than 1 and If you’re tempted to add more, move away from your jewellery box!
The best places to buy chunky pieces that will usually not discolour are second hand shops or vintage stores. This is because the quality years ago was simply better, due to the limited numbers that were being manufactured. If a vintage piece has lasted 40 years so far, you’re probably onto a winner?
Either way we can all wear this look this season, adding some much needed glam-vibes to our wardrobes and once you have the perfect chunky chain you will wear it for life!
