Confused About Christmas? Your Shady Last Minute Christmas Gift List Sorted!

I am the ultimate gift giver, something comes over me and before I know it, I am buying gifts left, right and centre.

Over the years I have perfected gift wrapping (something my mum loves about receiving my gifts….the packaging). I also buy gifts throughout the year so I reduce my Christmas present budget…. Savvy!

2020 has been quite an eye opener and the great re-set also gives us the opportunity to cut back on waste and live within our means. Previously Christmas was a time I was giving gifts that frankly stretched my budget, to make others happy. This year my approach has been very different, cutting back and only focusing on those who really cared about my well being over the past year.

I have curated a bunch of stocking fillers and presents for the last minute grinches amongst us and also compiled a bunch of savvy affordable ideas for those who really don’t have a lot of money to spend.

If there is thought that goes into a gift it really doesn’t have to be expensive. And don’t forget, that baking a cake, baking cookies or making something by hand is the most precious gift you can give. Enjoy……..x

Although this looks super fancy, my suggestion is to buy a box of miniatures and put one perfume bottle in each gift bag, along with some chocolates and a good hand cream. 1 box of miniatures can retail at between £20-£30 and you could have up to 4 or 5 gifts… Sorted! The Hermes scarf ring was from Grays Antiques Market, Bond Street, London.

(Right) Perfumes are a great gift and you can buy them slightly cheaper on some auction sites. This Tiffany Intense was £20 new for 30mls instead of the usual £56 which was a saving of £36! The Jeanne De Provence hand cream looks super fancy but costs £2.99 from TKMaxx. The key is to find something that has some history behind it. The package design usually looks more unique and the gift will be more special. Chanel soap in a vintage soap dish £55. Chanel No.5 Eau De Parfum 30mls £33. A vintage Chanel beaded necklace or a vintage hand pained Jade handled vanity mirror, are perfect timeless gifts for the girl who has everything.

2. Your single friend.

A candle and some chocolates are a great gift that bring a lot of calming pleasures and is practical for moments of self care, wellness, inner peace and understated luxury. Lavender bags hand made. For those of you living in a small apartment and not putting up a tree this year I can honestly say that the joy I have had from this mini disco ball has brought a smile to my face. find them on Ebay for around £9.00 and get the Christmas party started.

Tarot cards are having a moment so why not give someone something they can learn to use? These were my favourite as they had the beautiful art deco detail.

(Right) Smudging and crystals are big business at the moment and can help cleanse your home ready for a positive new years. Roll on 2021 and lets summon some good health and wealth while we are at at. Image of an Abalone shell, various crystals, sage, a Tibetan temple meditation claw bell and an Palo Santo stick.

4. Your flexible friend.

Everlast is super affordable and while most gyms are either closed or we have decided to save on the annual subscription, little bits of exercise equipment that can be used at home make the perfect gift. Dumbbells available from www.houseoffraser.co.uk.

(Right) When Pippa Middleton was first seen in this black crocodile bike helmet, it was a fashion moment that only resonated with the cyclists among us. It’s by a company called Sawako and is a little pricey at $130 but I can assure you it’s an investment worth making. You can ring my ding-a-ling bike bell £2.99 from Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

5. Your brunch buddy.

For the slightly older among us tea is a great gift and Fortnum and Mason in London are by far the best for a wide selection. They also sell these cute relish pots for an upper crust nibble.

6. Don’t forget the kids….

Why not have a teddy-bears picnic. Vintage teddies are a great gift and never go out of fashion. This year my niece and nephews are getting Harrods teddies but there are plenty of affordable options on Ebay, Etsy, Hamleys, antique shops and charity shops, for as little as £5! Pre loved can actually be an investment too especially if you manage to get your hands on a classic vintage Steiff! Small teddy on the left Ebay £6.50 (TY 1993 edition).
